My, my....these NCO folks are just so prevalent these days. I received a bill from them, from my baby's almost-birth (sent home from L&D for another week)last year. The deal is that the insurance didn't pay because it wasn't filed correctly by the hospital. Yes, I know that it's a deal where the insurance part needs to get resolved, but I am seriously doubting that will happen. I have contacted our HMO and they are trying to get the claim paid, but in the meantime NCO is threatening to file a judgement (or so they say) on my CR if payment is not received. Lizardking, I saw your letter where you requested validation with an AT&T account that was placed with them....any word back? (I don;t remember how long ago it ws sent) I am thinking I would try that, if I can't get the HMO to pay. The irony of this dilemma is that we have 100% maternity coverage--this should have been paid in full 10 months ago. My fear is they will just move forward and list it as a medical collection. IF, and only if, it gets to that, how much of a negative impact does that have? I don't want to have to deal with having my CC rates jacked because of this mess. (I've already had this happen w/Citi and just got that resolved due to a EQ error) I am refusing to pay because, quite honestly, the HMO should've paid it initially, and I should have never even been contacted/billed by a CA or even the hospital under the terms of the contract the hospital has with the HMO. The bill is only about $350; any input? I actually am *wanting* to sue on this one because I'm so mad! Also, are there any sites that deal with resolving insurance dilemmas like this? The irritating part is that I feel like I am talking to a brick wall at both the HMO and the CA/hospital. Many thanks in advance.
Try your state's AG, the state's dept of insurance, and whatever organization regulates the health providers in your state. Write it all down and get your ducks in a row and COMPLAIN!!
Since the hospital screwed up it's their loss not yours. Make it clear that they will have to do their job right if they want paid.
