I have a chargeoff from 97 for an old electric bill on my TU report. NCO is the collection agent for it. I had never heard a peep from them until I saw it on my report.

I sent them an offer that I would pay it off if they would delete it from my TU report. They completely ignored my offer and instead sent me the boilerplate collection letter.

I called the number on the paper they sent me and spoke to Miss Customer Service.

Miss Customer Service: When are you going to pay this?

Me: I'll pay the whole thing immediately if you'll send me a letter stating that you'll remove it from my credit report upon payment.

Miss Customer Service: We can't do that.

Me: You can do it, you just choose not to do it.

Miss Customer Service: Are you going to pay?

    Me: Not without the letter.

    Miss Customer Service: click

What's my next avenue of attack? It's only $125 but I don't want it on my report, paid or unpaid.

    Try this contact info:

    NCO Financial Systems, Inc.
    John Emmons, Compliance Manager
    150 Crosspoint Parkway
    Crosspoint Business Park
    Getzville, NY 14068

    phone: 716-414-2100
    fax: 716-404-2120

How old is this debt? Send them a validation letter(or a modified Estopple). Make them validate the debt, they are terrible at retaining account info.
