I have collection letters from NCO. In searching past posts on this company I see reference to "Ecm" and "Great Trust", but when I search BBB nothing comes up for any of these names. Does anyone know What "NCO" breaks down to? Or Where I can find information on this company? Apparently, from the past posts they are a very big ca. Do they buy old accounts? Or are they collection agency for original creditors? Many thanks tml
I found their website for you: NCOGROUP Home Page I am not positive that is the NCO you are talking about but they do have the following on their services page: Collection Services NCO's collection services are designed to maximize recoveries of delinquent accounts while respecting the customer's relationship with the clients we serve. NCO operations specialists develop flexible work plans designed to shorten the time from first contact to receipt of payment. Our comprehensive work plans use professionally scripted telephone and written communications, asset and income verification activities, skiptracing, credit bureau reporting, and account litigation services to effect timely account resolution. Hope that helps. -Dave
I know they suck big toes! They like to ignore the law. Ridiculous group....I'm dealing with them right now...they are billing my husband for a medical bill in Texas when we lived in Illinois. Interesting, eh? First, they went after me, saying I was responsible for his bill. I sent dispute to them, they then took it off mine and put it on his..no notification to him, nothing. They are showing late every month... this is not his bill. I just sent them dispute...(rather hubby did)... So, junum is fighting the CRA's, I fight the CA's...
NCO has had a few lawsuits against them.. search on this board. I recently got 4 of their lines deleted offmy report..
I disputed it as NOT ACCURRATE and NOT MINE. I made a list of 12-15 items on a letter, and at the bottom put NOT ACCURRATE, NOT MINE. Then put PLEASE UPDATE and PLEASE DELETE next to each line item on my letter. I also sent validation letters to all them as well. I sent one to the President/CEO of NCO as well..
LOL, Dave! Ender, thanks for sharing. I'm interested to see what happens with this with my hubby between Junum and I attacking from different ends..me the CA's and junum the CRA's. Will let you know... I may need you to put on your magic outfit and wave magic dust over my disputes! :0
Dave Thanks that is what I was looking for.....gosh they are big! Also thanks to NanaC and Ender for your responses. Yeah Ender how did you deal with them? (and don't tell me I have to suck their "Hairy Toes") LOL It appears that they buy the old charged off debts, but their collection letter to me indicates they are working for the original creditor. Anyway will be sending validation letters to them, will let you know what happens......hope I don't get the Big Hairy Toes, where the sun don't shine. Again many thanks for responding. tml
tml, I will also keep you up-to-date on my dispute with them which I sent last week certified return receipt!! We are gonna kick some collection butt!
I have the name of one of their attorneys that represents them. His name is Joshua Ginden and you can mail him at NCOs' Pennsylvania address. I decided to give him the old validation letter.
By the way NCO is huge and it has parent companies. They are a real pain to deal with, but they are just as easy to fall at the sign of a validation letter as any other ca. They are just full of themselves and that is all.
In looking at NCO's site, they have bought up so many collection companys including the bk Creditrust and the very large Milliken & Michaels to name a few. They say they have a warehouse full of thousands of old debts acquired from these companies. I would guess that NanaC, Ender and I have lots of company in fighting them regarding debts that are not ours. Anyone getting a collection letter from NCO, especially if it appears to be an old account should look into it (Automatic Validation Request) to make sure it is actually theirs before ever paying it. At any rate it appears the way they have been buying out ca's they'll soon be the only one in the country that we will have to deal with. They mention on the site that FBI and other agencies cleared them and were not looking into their records and were only investigating the records of a bankrupt company they had just bought up. tml
I dealt with them in December. They convinced me they had a lawsuit ready to file the next day if I did not pay off my sons student loan that I cosigned for. I got hit with $2,000 in attorney fees and collection costs on a $5000 loan. I know now I was stupid and they were full of BS, but that was before I knew about this board. They told me they are part of Wells Fargo Bank. I do not know if that is true or not. Be careful. Part of the deal I had with them was that nothing negative would be put on my credit report. Well, they lied. They reported it as defaulted and showed it as never paid off. Then, they promised to contact all three credit bureaus to correct the situation. It took me over four months to get it corrected with no help from them. Now, I have jsut been denied credit based on a default showing up on my credit report. It has to be this thing popping up again. It looks like I am back to square one. They are evil
I would check their BBB record in your area. I believe their main offices are located in PA. I would file a complaint against them, just to tarnish their record. They dont seem to really care about clearing up disputes with the BBB, but maybe that would prevent a creditor from doing business with them.
GoDaddyo They are not listed with BBB, searched all PA sites and BBB national data base and BBB for my area. I guess they are not members of the BBB. Also they are not listed in my state's corporation registry, just can't find anything on them, other than their own web site. Their site indicates that they went public in I think 1996 so they have to be listed with some registry, just so many variations on them (NCO, NCOG, etc.) Just don't what "NCO" breaks down to, National Collection Organization or what. Oh well I am sure eventually it will come to light, things like this usually do if you wait or search long enough. tml
