The reason I ask is because I've helped out a few relatives by getting their reports and sending validation letters, etc. I've never charged them, but, the thought did occur to me that I could, maybe, do this part time. Anyway, anybody know if a license of some sort is needed?

You would have to check your state laws for licensing. But there are several very restrictive federal laws involved with credit repair (and there be some in your state as well). Before you venture into the enterprise I would become well versed in these.

It's probably more difficult legally to operate a credit repair business than it is to operate a credit reporting agency.

Which shouldn't discourage anyone from starting a credit repair business. But it does show who has the most political influence.
