Need a New Card--Any Suggestions?

I'm looking for a new bank card. I need more credit to pay tuition for a college class. I'm close to the limits on all my existing bank cards.

Within the last two months, I've asked Citibank for limit increases on my Classic MasterCard and ClickCiti MasterCard. Today, they gave me an instant decline message based on

    "RECENT LOW PAYBAL"

which sounds like they're worried that I make only minimum paymemnts most of the time.

I got a better job recently and making my payments really isn't a problem, but I do have a lot of debt which interferes with obtaining new prime bank cards.

I'm willing to pay 15 to 20 percent on a new bank card, although I'd prefer a low transfer rate so that I can get rid of my CapOne Visa or Providian MC in the process. Any suggestions about bank cards that are fairly easy to obtain?

To make it appear that you're making larger than minimum payments, transfer money to cobalt card or use the chasethingy, get cash, put it in your bank account, use it to pay on another card. Then they don't flag you for making minimum payments.

apply for another citibank. they declined me for an increase , the same day i received the $5000 citi AAdvantage silver card. Go figure.

Thats assuming you have been good with citi (no lates, no overs, etc..)

Easiest way to get more credit is to ask for more cards from the same bank.

Thank you very much, Sam. That's a great anecdote.

I have an immaculate record with Citibank for almost 2 years. Before that, I was undermotivated and frequently late, maybe one month out of three.
None of that shows up on the outside credit reports, but Citibank sure knows about it.

I was going to wait and apply for a Citibank Platinum Select, but for now the AAdvantage would do nicely. I'm going over to apply right now.
