Hello! My husbands score is around 600.There will be 2 derogs off in 2004 and the other 3 off in 2005.We have never been late on our mortgage or our current auto loan.We did have 2 repos in the past, but they will drop off soon.I am going to start trying to remove some of these items because they are past sol.Our problem is I need serious dental work at about $6,000 to $8,000.We have no dental insurance! Is there any way we could get a loan now or should we wait one more year and try to raise scores. We have very little in equity in our home because it is a manufactured home.I don't know what to do! I really need this work done. But we can't come up with money like that.So I guess these are my questions.Should we try for a personal loan now with a sub prime lender?Should we try for a equity loan if we can find a company that loans to manufactured home owners? We owe about $85,000 and it might be worth $93,000 if we are lucky.(OR)Should we wait for better credit scores and try for a loan then or a very high credit limit credit card.If anyone can be of help I would very much appreciate it.If you can name companies who loan to manufactured housing homeowners or companies that loan to bad credit that would be helpful.I hate doing this.I never wanted to have unsecured credit again but if I want a normal life of smiling I need this done!Sorry this was so long! THANK YOU!

One thing you should look into is a medical flex spending plan at work. That's basically an interest-free loan for a year for medical bills and the payments come out of your check pretax.

I think the max on this is $4500 a year.

Is all the work being done at once? Can you get a parttime job possibly? Can you find a lower cost alternative like a dental school? Just try help you brain storm.

My husband's job doesn't offer the flex plan.I have been a homemaker for the last 8 years so I would have a hard time finding a job that could pay enough.I have a 8 year old and a 2 year old.A good daycare would cost about $125 a week for the 2 year old and thats not counting after school care for the 8 year old.If I was lucky I might bring home about $50.00 a week after expenses.I thought of working nights but my husband works overtime alot at night. He gets way more money when he works night then I would working a whole week.So a job is not an option until the 2 year old is in school. And I will need most of the money up front for the mouth surgery i will need.We could possibly save $2,000 but That will not even cover the first surgery.i need 2 surgerys.I was just hoping someone could give advice on where to get a loan. But thanks for the advice!

A state Dental school sounds like a good option to me. You maybe able to work out a payment plan with them too considering it is a public institution.

It doesn't even have to be a state institution. Just about any university that has a dental school probably can help.

Years ago, I needed a lot of dental work and didn't have the money. I went to a (rather prestigious, no less) university dental school on the advice of a friend.

The work may take a little longer, because students do most of it. But they are supervised at all times, so if anything goes wrong someone is there to correct it. I actually feel that you get better care, because one or more teachers is watching at all times.

They do charge a fee, to cover the materials and I guess some of the cost of the facility. Maybe the students even get a small stipend, I don't know. But I do know that it was WAY cheaper than going to your local dentist, and everything will be done properly.

for financing your mobile home you should try the local banks. I've found there about 50/50, half will finance 'em and half won't touch 'em, could never understand why.

I have an 8 year old and 1.5 year old, my wife was working full time and would bring home $100 if we were lucky. When she lost that job she started her own day care. She just told all her friends and they spread the word. With only 2 or 3 kids she does't need any certification. She works less hours and more than tripled her income.

Check your yellow pages for a dental school.

You might consider getting a personal loan with one (or more) of the personal finance companies out there... benificial, citifinancial and the like. They'll take people with less than stellar credit. They get mixed reviews here and one of the big reasons for that is that you'll pay an outrageous interest rate... on the order of 25%, but if you absolutely need the money and you're willing to pay their interest then you might want to look into them. You may have to take out a loan with more than one company, however, because I'm not sure if either company will finance as much as $8000, but you should be able to get two $4000 loans.

    HTH,
    Brett
