We are 5 years out of our BK from 97. No credit problems since the BK and we have other accounts. We want to buy a small TV and a stereo system. Total value $500. We are shopping around and it appears from the back messages here that Circuit City is not that hard to establish a credit account with. Next year when we buy a new computer, we will buy from Dell and hopefully use Dell credit. But right now, we are planning to go to Circuit City tomorrow and buy these items I mentioned. How does Circuit City compare price wise for the items I mentioned? Is there any chance we will be embarassed and turned down for credit? Our scores are 670-705 EX and TU. It has occured to me use Best Buy but there stores seem shoddy. Sears has a terrible credit reputation. Wal mart turned us down for credit at XMAS.
Thanks, nana's old BK message said CC approves with mid 600's scores 2 years after BK. But creditors have tightened up since then. We were in shock when Wal Mart of all joints turned us down. We don't want to waste an inquiry. Anybody else have anything to share?
I was approved last year for $1200 CL. My report was clean but I'd been applying for other things. My score at the time was probably in the mid 600s. Since, they're increased my CL $500.
I just got approved about two weeks ago for $5500. They pulled Equifax, and my score was 681 the day it was pulled. Do it ahead of time over the phone and you won't get embarrassed if you get turned down. I have no derogatories on my report, but very high useage on my accounts (basically i am maxed out). Circuit City is real good about matching the prices of competitors and they will match the financing offers of their competitors. I like the selection better at Best Buy, but you can't get anyone to wait on you. I just bought a new Sony Vaio computer. The price was the same at BB, CC, and CompUSA, and they all offered the same financing plan.
Wewent over to CC today and paid cash for the 2 items we wanted to buy. We found out an interesting thing at CC. Their $3500 Sony HDTV is being replaced by a newer model at $2500 within a few weeks. These TV's are sold with 1 year at no interest with a CC account. If it is true that the FCC is going to make the cable people provide HDTV service by Jan 1, we plan to return to CC in Jan. and open an account and put $500 down on a new TV. We will have meore leverage after the holidays. My husband can't wait.
