Ok I know this doesn't sound like a lot but after all the disputing I have done and my credit may not seem that bad looking at it. Its enough debt that I don't qualify for anything. BUt if I add up ALL my debt its close to ten thousand. I live in the state of Illinois. I spoke with an Attorney's office trying to get info on BK and they pretty much just told me that it wil be on my CR for the next 10 years and this and that but I can't get anything now and for the past 10 years either. I really think a fresh start is what I need is there any advice I can get from anyone it would be much appreciated!
I'm not understanding your post, but I'll take a stab - even though you have disputed things off your credit report, that does not in and of itself make the debt go away. Yes, a BK can report for 10 years from date of filing on your credit report, but it will always be a matter of public record. What do you mean by "I can't get anything now and for the past 10 years either?". If you are talking about credit, many people here have rebuilt their credit after BK - no need to wait 10 years just because a BK is reporting. $10K doesn't sound like alot, but then again we aren't in your shoes and don't know your whole situation. How old is all of your debt?
No way you should file BK over 10k worth of debt. It just doesn't make sense insofar as litigation would seem unlikely. This is particularly true if some or most of these items are not on your reports. You reference that you haven't been able to obtain credit. That is a problem with your score now; i.e., no avaliable revolving credit or history. There are ways to overcome this but, BK will not help.
