How do you close out a department store charge account from a store that went out of business in 1999.

The small, ie. $700 credit limit, still shows as open on all 3 CRA reports. But under a new company name that I don't recognize. I want to have this show as "paid never late", "closed by consumer".

But I don't have the faintest idea who the owner of the account is or how to close it.

I am just starting to do my credit repair.

ASK THE CREDIT REPORTING AGENCY WHAT THE ADDRESS IS FOR THE NEW COMPANY NAME...THEY WILL GIVE IT TO YOU.

Maybe you can just ask them to skip the new creditor...maybe the credit reporting agency will just report it as...
"closed at consumer's request" , never late, $0 balance, $700 credit limit.
