Need advice handling CA??

    Hi
    My name is rafael and am new to this site. Must add that ive read some good info and im learing alot im 19 and had good credit up untill i applyed for school and requested finacial aid. I started school and only went to two classes the school called me and i dropped out. This was in summer of 2004. Last month i got a call from a CA stating i must pay $1,231.60 not know what to do the CA set me on a payment plan i only sent 1 payment of $50.00 they call me everyday now very rude and leaving loud mesages like THIS IS TERRI BROWN RAFAEL CALL ME BACK 800-566-0500 EXT:107 What do guys suggest i can do now. Its on my CR and effected my score greatly.

    What do you mean, "the school called you you dropped out"?

    they called to see if i was returning and i said no..

    Should i send a vaidation to the ca and a dispute to the transunion..

    Was your withdrawl before any deadlines for partial or full refund of tuition fees? Some states require refund of a percentage of tuition if the student withdraws within certain timeframes.

    Was this a public or private college?

    It was a public school and i withdrew on the second class.. And no one mention that i still had to pay?

    Can i send a vaildation to the Ca then send a dispute to the cra and see what happens.

    What was the refund policy for withdrawls by the second class?

    This is less than a year old. You should be able to get a clear picture from the college itself. They should still have the records accessible. If the debt itself was invalid, should have been a far smaller amount, or should never have been sent to collection, you are better off than messing with the CA, who has no interest in meeting the college's obligations.
