I received a pre-approved offer from Monogram Bank in Georgia for a Wal-Mart card. All it needs is my SSN, DOB and signature. I was thinking about doing it. I only have one retail account with The Bon Marche. I have read that having one retail account improves your credit rating, but what about two accounts? If I apply, will it decrease my rating, or will it be a non-event as long as I have at least one retail account? Any advice is appreciated!

    Thanks!

In MOST cases the WAL*MART card is as close to a "pre-approved" card as possible.

In the fine print it says a credit report may be pulled. (SHOULD SAY ALWAYS PULLED).

Also usually a higher credit line than the $200 TARGET card.

F.Y.I. THEY DO AN "AR" (ACCOUNT REVIEW) ALMOST EVERY MONTH ON EQUIFAX.

MY CREDIT LINE STARTED @ $1,400...NOW $2,025 (WEIRD AMOUNT)

    TILL JUNE 30, 2001 0.00% OFFER W/ $200+ RECEIPT & MINIMUM PAYMENTS.

    "AR" NO EFFECT ON F.I.C.O.
