I recently disputed an "authorized user" entry on my report as "belongs to primary card holder", but experian had it verified (transunion deleted it). This is a credit card given to me by my brother so as to be able to build credit back when I turned 18. Well, as I was young and stupid, I misused the card, and now it's a very negative entry.

The card is paid off, but I feel guilty to go to my brother and ask him to have my name removed from the account to get it off my credit. If he did that, then it will remain on his credit even though it was all my fault (he never used this card).

Is there any way to get this removed off my credit report without having my brother do it? Is there anything my brother can do to get it off his report? or any general advise on this situation? Thanks a lot in advance

It was opened back in 1996, but has been closed by the bank since 1999. It's not a charge off but a bunch of late pays, and it's now been paid off. Just now trying to see if i can get it off my credit report

since it is closed, I would dispute with the CRAs as "Paid Never Late" The company has got there money and may not waste time updating a closed account. Make sure it is reported as closed. this would be the first trick. keep me posted

So is it safe to assume that even though Experian came back to me saying the account was "verified" that they may not have verified it afterall? and experian just automatically never deletes AUs? Both Transunion and equifax deleted this off my credit by the way.
Also, is it safe to re-dispute right after a verification like that? I only got the report back a few days ago. Thanks!

Well since u have disputed and came backas yours, u can't go that route anytime soon. best bet is to go directly to CA with dispute as never been paid late. Ask for proof or some type of payment history. same rules here. they have their money, why waste time dealing with you. Tell them there computer made an error posting these payments. tell them they better have proof they recieved these late. tell them u have your copies of payments with none late. see if u can force their hand...
