After much work, and with the help of this forum, hubby was finally able to get a mortgage. I am trying not to get too excited until we get the keys at closing on Friday, but anyway. Now, he would like to get another credit card to use for emergencies with the house, and I would like advice on what he should apply for. He currently has Cap1 gold and they sent him a guaranteed approval for Platinum, but it is a $60 annual fee. He also has a Citi with $3500 limit, but when he applied for a second one, got the message that they would sent him a decision via snail mail, so...Any ideas? Also I finally got my Student Loans to report correctly after rehab, and got instant approval for a Target Guest Card, my major cards are a Cap1 secured Visa and I am AU on hubby's Citi card. Should I get rid of the secured card? If so, what should I apply for instead? Thanks for your advice Larissa
Well yes, I have told him that, but I am not on the mortgage, so I should be able to apply right? Larissa
Larissa, I agree with bailey don't apply (or buy) anything until the keys are in your hand. After that I would suggest MBNA. My sister (who only has a Cap One card and car loan) recently applied for their Platinum Plus card (we were hoping for a miracle). They denied her and I called them back to reconsider and they approved her for their regular VISA card. Good customer service and a real live person looks at all the applications. I was really impressed. Will Cap One upgrade from a secured card to an unsecured card instead of you having to close the account. I would try Planetfeedback and ask them if they would consider it. Good luck and congrats on the new home. Dani
Larissa, Please forgive me for changing the subject, but I would like to know which CRA Target pulled and your corresponding score (any negs on that report?). I am curious if Target has changed its requirements for store card now that the Target Visa is available.
