I need to send some type of letter to a creditor (school) that has reaged my account. I was hoping that someone here could help me craft a letter that would get this line removed. It was not on my report as of July 2000 and then all of suddenit shows DLA 01/01. EQ keeps verifying it. It has been transferred, but that was not done until 06/01, so I know that they are lying. I really don't want to send in my report from 06/01 because everything on it was BAD!!! and is now gone. Any help is appreciated.
I was thinking of something like the validation form, but asking for date of last activity (DLA).

My email has been enabled. Just put in subject line DLA letter.

    Kitt,

You don't have to send them the entire old CR from 06/01. Just photocopy the header with report number and the tradeline, block out the rest. I'm not sure how long they keep the actual reports on file, they may have access to the whole thing anyway by the report #.

The bad news, I tried this with a re-aged account on EX and, of course, they still verified it with the new bogus date! I'll find the letter and post it, but, it didn't work for me on Experian. Maybe EQ will honor proof :)

But it did get me off my duff, I filed complaints on EX to BBB, TX AG and FTC.

Pat, thanks for your reply! Only problem, everything that was on this report was BAD! I don't know that I really want to give Ms Vicki a weapon to say hmmm!!! What about allthis other stuff?

What about other stuff ?It was wrong so had to be corrected. Still I would not want to give them any ideas by letting them see it.

I re-read your post and figured out that you were talking about validating with the creditor. I'm very slow sometimes :)

I suppose you could just photocopy the tradeline and nothing else. It wouldn't really count for much in the way of proof, because it could be easily duplicated and changed.

But since you're sending it to the creditor and not the CRA, the creditor won't have access to an old CRA report by number. So if you blanked out all the tradelines except the one, you wouldn't be giving her any of the bad info.

Plus, I'm not 100% sure on this, but isn't EQ in violation of the FCRA by re-aging or allowing the re-aging of the account?

Why not send them (EQ) the old copy with a dispute, telling them that they are in violation of the FCRA by re-aging this account and fix it or delete it.

That's the thing Pat, this is not reporting as of 07/21/2000. I sent an email back to that vicki lady at EQ and told her that I am sure they keep these confirmations somewhere in their "refusal to delete anything mainframe" and that she should have this info....I hope something works. I just can't get enuff of their stuff...YUM!! YUM!! LOL!
