My dad has a scores in the late 500s/early 600s range. No serious unpaid derogs. He needs a checking account...anyone know an online bank who can? He's not on Chex.
Hey...you can open up a Washington Mutual account over the phone. They will mail you a signature card, etc. to sign and send back. Oh wait...I think that they require that for your opening deposit that the funds must be drawn on your current checking accout or a cashier's check issued by your bank. No money orders and no cash. You could call and see... http://www.wamu.com
Regardless of where you are in the U.S. call Ms. Regina Coakley, Senior Personal Financial Representative at Washington Mutual, dial 404-249-7121. Regina will make it all very easy for you. They do not run a credit bureau report but of course they do use Chex Systems. Tell her you were referred by randy@rollingout.com. Randy is one of my clients.
wamu denied me based on credit (not living at address for 2 years, explicit reason, soft EXP inquiry). They then check for Chex. netbank is a better choice imo.
Again, for those that need to see it 2 or 3 times before they get it, call Regina Coakley directly and she will not pull any credit report.
