Okay. I've had it with Cingular Wireless!!! I've had an account with them since August 2001. During the year of 2002, I have received 8 late payment notices. Now I've NEVER been late! The notices are generated 5 days before the due date of the bill and THAT'S when I send in my payment! For example: In December, I sent my electronic bill payment through my bank on December 31, 2002 so it will arrive before Jan 5th (the due date). Now today (January 21st) I receive 2 notices that they haven't received payment for December! And the notices were generated on 12/31/2002 - the day I sent in my payment. I suppose I could make my payment directly at their website, but I shouldn't have to do that - it's very inconvenient when I get free bill pay with my bank. So, besides poor customer service, is there any other legal stuff I can throw at them for violating the terms of our contract? I'm going to cancel the service, but I want to be sure that I don't have to pay $300 to cancel it. ($150 per line)
Yes, I agree they do suck. However, be very careful about how you go about cancelling your account with them. My ex-wife cancelled with them (without ever having signed a contract) and they sent this lunatic collection agency after her for $150. They were just nuts, screaming and swearing in the phone. I couldn't believe it. If you do cancel, cancel on the grounds that you get poor coverage in your area. Tell them that the phone does not even receive a signal in your place of business and that you purchased the phone for business purposes. They should let you out of the contract without a fight. Good luck!
Cingular is a pain in my ass as well, my wife has a phone with them, and we never receive the bill! They keep changing the billing address in their system it seems every month. We thought about closing the account, but they will hound you over the early termination fee. At this point there is only 3 months on the contract, so we'll probably stick it out until then. I have a similar confusion with Cingular. If you look on the bill it does not have a due date. It actually says "due upon receipt" "late fee charged after" and then gives a date. Thats why you keep getting a "late notice". Its generated 5 days before they can charge you a late fee.

Re: Re: Need Help! Cingular Sucks!!! AFTER ONE YEAR...it should be MONTH-TO-MONTH... They MAY pro-rate credit to the day... BUT I would get a new service BEFORE you cancel the other one!!!
Re: Re: Need Help! Cingular Sucks!!! My Hubby and I had a major issue with them. He was a very heavy user and hey kept sending late notices without even getting a bill. When he refused to pay the amount until the detailed bill was received, they disconnected him and we had to wait 2 hours for CS so that they would restore payments. His payment once was over $1000. because they we having "billing problems" and by the time we got the bill it was that high. Well, amounts over $700. go through another "posting" area and boom! service is interrupted again. He cancelled and they tried to charge his base rate (because he was a high user) and make him pay it through out the rest of the contract time (6 months.) They even sent a collection agency after him that called him at work and talked to his office workers about the debt. I don't know anyone who like Cingular everyone I know that has had that service has had an issue with them too. We have Sprint now and like clockwork, we get an accurate bill every month and customer service when we need it.
