CMI (Credit Management Inc.) in Carrolton, Tx has an AT&T account as a collection on my report. I have never had anything with AT&T, I was advised to pay it when before I could get my home loan. Which I did. I dispusted with EX and it came back verified. I called CMI and they stated they were not able to remove it only EX could remove it by investigation. I know by previous dealings with CA that is an incorrect statement. I called her on it and she hung up on me. What is my next step... Letter to CMI? AT&T? Thank You in Advance Newbie HuriKane
Send them a letter giving them 5 business days to remove the bogus account or you will sue their ass for FCRA violations. Gib
Kane, We have almost the same name and almost the same problem. I'm dealing with CMI right now on a cable collection acct that they never collected. They were "told" by the OC that it was paid, so they are reporting a paid collection. Was it Sheryl Beckman that hung up on you? or her assistant? I would start doing things in writing. I have send 3 letters to her (first CRRR, next 2 via fax). They responded to me CRRR both times (waiting for the next response). They won't send me ANY documentation, just letters saying "we sent a letter on this date, then we sent one on this date, and this date"....no copy of the letter, no "validation" of the account...nothing... I hope you have better luck, but I'm NOT giving up. I'm trying to find the right laws to apply to my situation. Good Luck...
Hurricane5, I'd love to hear if you make any progress. I'm working with them right now, and they are doing weird things on the reports. I can't wait to see what they do next!
Whatcha mean? You're having excellent luck. This is exactly what you want them to do. Violate violate violate. What would you like them to do provide validation? NOOO! Or ... Just remove your account on the same day they get your first letter? That's not realistic. You guys just need to get ready to file. That's when they'll take ya seriously, when you get serious. Everything is working perfectly. ~
