Sells credit unemployment insurance. It's been five years and it's time for renewals at my job. If I'm here on October 1 it looks like I have a job. But I just purchased a new car in Dec (not thinking I guess) and I want to make sure the payments are made in the event that I get laid off. Unemployment will pay me the max in CAL which is around 1200 a month. That pays rent, insurance and bills but leaves nothing left. I've got 5-7k that I will receive if I am unemployed. (Vacation + Savings + Avail cash + misc). Basically there's a chance I could loose my job, so I'm looking for companies that provide this type of insurance. If I have a job in October... I'll cancel it because I'll be here another 5 years before renewals again.

Sadly, I don't have a degree. But I do have a MCSE, MCSA, CNA and CCNA. :> Hey I'll go from making excellent money to probably working at McDonalds. Anyone want fries with that? I guess it'll be the best burger you ever tasted...

Don't know of any insurance like that. The closest I can think of is credit insurance which only covers your CCs.

Since you have 4 months to plan is it possible to move to a less expensive home so you can save some money there? If you're not upside down on the car loan, you could try trading it in for a 2 or 3-yr old car.

Whoa, nice. Seems to be most any IT department would be lucky to have you!

I second the comment regarding car payments. I've been listening to Dave Ramsey a lot (hear archives at DaveRamsey.com for some entertaining and sensible financial advice), and he's converted me over to the I-hate-car-payments club. :)

    Dear Dark,

You won't find it under your circumstances. The company would be buying a claim (asking for trouble). They would check with your employer to find out how stable your job is and turn you down flat. inho.
