could you please email me ...would like to be pointed in right direction for re-finance.

current mortgage is with Countrywide, 21 yrs remain on a 30 yr , current rate is 7.25, want to pull out some monies to pay IRS (I don't want to pay their rates on the current payment plan, and drag it out.) $92 balance, should appraise for $130-$140K.

    Thanks :)

Wow, what a great opportunity to save some money.

If you're just looking for a place to go, I'd suggest you ask around among your friends, family and co-workers for a recommendation on someone local that they went to who gave good service and advice. In mortgages, it's less important what company you do business with than it is that you get a good loan officer to work with.

I haven't been around long, but long enough to know that this is clearly the sound of an ax grinding...

As posted on other threads I am currently very interested in mortgage financing and have gone back and read many of Fla-tan's posts.

They are informative, helpful and appear on the mark!

    Maggie,

I also have a Countrywide mortgage and over the last six months about every two weeks we receive offers on refinancing from them. We finally decided it had hit bottom a month or so ago and refinanced with them on their Fast Trak program. Our house was appraised on Sat and we closed the next Thursday. They are also offering a HELOC for 3.25% for three months then it goes to 5.25%.

I don't know if you are interested in staying with Countrywide or not I just thought I would add my .02.

    Maggie,

If fla-tan doesn't answer here, you can find him at www.creditboards.com moderating the mortgage forum.

He usually answers there within a day's time. And, I agree, he's great.

Suggesting a person ask around for someone with a good reputation is grinding an axe? I personally think it's good advice. For everything you buy from mortgages to haircuts, the best indication that you can get good service is knowing that they've already given good service to someone you know and trust.

Doctors, mechanics, contractors...whenever I need something I ask the people I know if they know someone who does good work, and what they liked about them. I think that's a lot better than just going with the person who has the best advertising campaign. In my own business, I take it as a compliment when I get a call from someone who says they got my name from a former customer, and I take extra care that they get good service too.

So have I and I agree with you. He is informative and helpful.

Whatever conflict he and I had seems to be over, and I hope it is. I personally don't hold grudges, I think it's a huge waste of time and energy to do so. I find that often when someone seems disagreeable at first, you can learn to respect them once you learn more about them.

I will email you. I don't come around here much anymore as there seems to just be a negative vibration that I don't have time for.
