I'm a magazine reporter looking to interview people with excellent credit who put a lot of effort into maintaining or improving their credit score, as well as those who tried strategies that backfired. It's for an article that will discuss the growing interest in credit scores and the fascination they hold for some people. It will also offer advice on what works (and what doesn't) when it comes to boosting your score above 720. We hope to go beyond the basics covered in other publications. Please email me at akadet@hearst.com. Thanks, Anne
You might search this site. There have been exhaustive threads on FICO = FAKO. Latest one was yesterday, when somebody from Fair Isaacs was being interviewed, and some of the really stupid answers he gave to questions.
Go to search and use the term "rescoring info". At the very bottom of the list there will be a thread started by Marie that may be of interest.
Re: Need help for story on FICO sco Hi, Thanks to all who replied. I will absolutely read the material on this board, but my story is not just about fico scores, it's about people who are fascinated by fico scores. Anyone willing to tell me about their experience with trying to boost their score, I'd appreciate you dropping me a line. Thanks, Anne akadet@hearst.com
Re: Need help for story on FICO sco I would think you would have a more interesting story about how FICO scores don't budge upwards nearly as quick as they nosedive downwards, and doing what you THINK may bring the score up actually drives it down. I may be a perfect example of that. I admit my credit is not that good but, 2 years after a bankruptcy it should start showing signs of recovery. Not so. I had a higher FICO score with 23 negatives in my credit file than I do with 9. I have a25 year credit hostory in my CB so it's not a matter of I took out all my history.
Re: Need help for story on FICO sco F.I.C.O. is a JOKE...pay off $30,000 in credit card debt and your score takes a DUMP!!! Credit cards like CAPITAL ONE can HURT BIG TIME because they list no credit limit. You "SHOP AROUND" for better rates on credit cards...you are hurt BIG TIME by the score loss caused by the inquires. Some banks do a "HARD" when ever you ask for a limit increase, or a rate decrease, or a balance transfer...EVEN THOUGH THEY ALREADY DO A "SOFT"~~"AR" EVERY SINGLE MONTH!!! A "HARD" for a limit increase MAY be logical...BUT NOT A RATE DECREASE OR A BALANCE TRANSFER!!! I owe "TONS" less now then I did at my HIGHEST F.I.C.O. (739) 675 NOW FOR ABSOLUTLY NO REASON!!! NO BK NO COLLECTIONS NO LATE PAYMENTS NO OVER-LIMIT ALMOST 25 YEARS THE END~RANT OVER
Re: Re: Need help for story on FICO scores LOL - If Magwriter reads yours and George's posts, he may change the slant of his story!
Re: Re: Need help for story on FICO sco Yes, I'm well familiar with Hearst Communications, Inc. But they publish a couple dozen magazines. I was wondering which particular magazine she was writing for. Buckets
