Doc, I need your help!! I used the nutcase letter on Perimiter Credit, a CA that was paid in full on April 30 of last year. I sent the nutcase letter CRRR. Today, I received a letter in an envelope from Gulf State Credit, but the letterhead says OSI Portfolio Services, but they both have the same address. This letter reads: "Creditor: PERIMETER CREDIT, LLC. New Account#: xxxxxxxx Old Account#: xxxxxxxxxxxx Amt Paid: $xx.xx Date Payment Received: April 30, 2001 We have received the payment for the balance of your account. If the payment instrument is returned "not paid" for any reason, this payment will be null and void. If you have any question (sp) regarding this, feel free to contact us. Sincerely, Portfolio Support Department" What the heck is this? Perimiter Credit is the one listed on my credit report, not Gulf State or OSI. Is this a proper response to the nutcase letter? Should I send them another letter of the estoppel type? Needing an answer, kjoe PS - From the time I began using this board (about 6 mos ago), my Equifax FICO score has gone from 580 to 611. Thanks, everyone for such great advice!!
Let me tell you something. Gulf state when they buy accts. (perimeter may be 1 of their aka's) gets no proof of the acct. They have agreements with the creditors that if needed, the creditor will supply the proof. However, more times than not, they creditor no longer has the info and then gulf state cannot validate the debt. My suggestion would be to send gulf state/osi a validation letter, certified mail - r/r/r. About 1 week after sending it dispute it with the cra's. In my extensive battles with gulf state/osi, I have found that most times they do not verify with the cra's. And, they most likely will not have any proof of the debt. So, it will most likely be deleted from your cr's and then when gulf state can't validate, they will send you a letter stating they are closing their books and removing from the cra's.
I Knew I could count on you, my fellow Creditnetters!! Thanks - I will send the validation letter, CRRR. kjoe
