    Hi all,

I need some help. I have been at this credit thing since 6/99, and its starting to get me down. I have had some success in getting derogs deleted, and a few nice cards, but I have these remaining derogs left and it seems no amount of pushing is going to get them off. Does anyone have any experience with these entities? Thank you in advance..

    GMAC, paid charge off, 1995:
GMAC absolutely wont budge. I have disputed multiple times and they keep verifying, I even complained to Atty Gen'; and BBB, and FTC because they couldnt send me any validation, but kept updating my reports to show more and more negs.

IC Systems, 2 paid medical accounts, from 1997 and 1998. Got them off Trans Union, one remains on Equifax, both still on Experian. Again, no luck. My experian is currently 638, so I need to get these off before we look for a house in 6/01.

Paid tax lien (filed 1993, paid 1996, $725.00) Got this off Experian, still showing on the other two.

Williams, Alexander and Assoc., paid medical bill from 1997, verified on Experian.

If no one has any experiance, can anyone suggest any creative ways to dispute? I have tried disputing the date paid, not mine, and the filing dates., but none of that worked. I am just getting very discouraged.

Thanks for your help, and sorry this is so long.

Just curious, how far up the chain of command in the companies (such as GMAC) did you go?

With GMAC, I spoke to numerous reps who couldnt tell my anything because the account was so old (archived). I then got to a "credit analyst" who essentially treated me like crap and then blew me off. She told me that the reason my letters went unanswered for 3 months were because I sent them to the wrong address. Apparently the dont forward mail in GMAC. Never mind the fact that I used the address on my credit report.

I then got to a credit manager, who sent me a detailed spreadsheet via email of all my payments, and told me that if I could dig up my canceled checks, she would be happy to go over them with me. (This loan originated in 1989, I dont have those records anymore.) She cc'd a few people on the email, but I dont know who they are. APparently she cant even give me print outs of my account, since it was paid off in 1995. I have no idea where she got the info for the spreadsheet.

I got a response from this same person a few months after I complained to GMAC about the credit anaylst person. I sent a letter via planetfeedback, who sent me right back to her.

It seems so simple, they cant get any info about my account on their system, but she pulled this from somewhere. THey cant send my anything with my name on it. The account is mine, but there is no way that I paid late 34 separate times, as they are alleging. I didnt keep such good records in those days, so I dont have those canceled checks. You'd thing they would just delete it, its already 6 yrs old, but no....

I would send a letter or email to the president of the company directly.

State your case directly, and ask for a deletion or change to a postive trace line.

Ask them to prove it !

You mentioned you did not used to keep good records--by a notebook and jot every detail down on it to create a back-up of your actions for a paper trail

Second step I would call your local office (CRA)

try to get in their good graces and ask them for your advice. Tell them that this creditor is not responding.

See what they saw. Don't call the national 800# for the agencies.

Our files are maintained by local affilates who must do all of the "leg work".

    BTW, welcome to the board.

I would also send letter via Planetfeedback and to the BBB!

I dont see how collections that old would prevent you from getting a home as long as you havent had any negatives in 2 years.

638 is not a bad score if it is your lowest. You can get a loan.

Roni is right! I had the same thought when I was first reading this and it slipped my mind when I wrote my post!

Is IC Systems the collection agency out of Minnisota? If so, I have been dealing with them and may be able to help you. I am at home now and all my records are at work.

While you are at it, help me spell Minnasota - I tried it different ways and they all look wrong.

Thanks for the spelling lesson. I have trouble spelling my own name.

I checked my files at work and IC Systems is the company in Minnesota that I dealt with. They claimed I paid them for a $50 collection in two payments. That never happened. I don't know where they got that but it was 100% wrong I never even talked to them. I surely didn't pay them anything nor did I owe the debt.

Here is the problem. More than two years after they claim this happened, they put it on my CR's as a paid collection. When I called, all I ever got was "your credit is important. You should pay your bills on time". I tried to explain this was all a big screw up on their part but they kept giving me the canned speech.

Here is my solution. I gave up on them and found the creditor. I played nice guy with them, explaining the problem. It took many calls and I had to keep explaining the problem to each person (no one really wanted to deal with it). They agreed they had nothing in their file indicating they had ever dealt with me. They agreed to write all the CRA's asking for a deletion but did not know what to say. I found some material on this board, typed up a letter to each CRA, printed a copy for the creditor, and sent them the disk with all three letters, asking them to print it on their stationary. I did all the work. All they had to do was to print out what I sent them on their stationary. It took them about six weeks, but they finally sent them in.

I was careful in my wording so they would not be afraid of a lawsuit in case they signed (in other words, they admitted nothing). TU has deleted it and I am waiting for the other two to reply.

After having dealt with IC, I would suggest you just ignore them and go directly to the creditor.

    Marypc,

It probably doesn't help much but I can certainly empathize with your situation. I've been at this credit repair thing since February of 99 and I too have creditors that simply won't yield any ground.

Writing doesn't help. Thus far, my missives have gone unanswered. I'm trying Planet Feedback but no results yet.

Yes, I probably should just pick up the phone and call but, admittedly, I lack courage. (NanaC, could I borrow some?) :)

In the lettters I've written, I've simply outlined my circumstances leading to the dilinquencies and asked for grace. It's worked in some cases but not these last two and, oh yeah, it didn't work with Providian. Fortunately, though, Experian reduced my 90-day late to a 30-day late and Eq and TU deleted the derogs entirely.

But this confounded paid chargeoff is killing me! I'd pay double now to get that thing off!

By the way, if I do work up the nerve to call, with whom should I speak and what should I say? I'd feel better if I had a script in hand.

    Thanks.

    Donna

Thanks for the words of advice you guys. Roni, my friend your posts always lift me up, (you helped me a long time ago with Arrow Financial, I never forgot it!)

Anyhow, Texastrini, thanks for your advice too, I have been posting on this board for awhile now, and have had some success., this whole thing just makes me mad, it was all so long ago and still Im paying for it.

Nana, I wrote to the BBB who said there was no case, and Planet Feedback sent me right back to the GMAC person who originally blew me off, and she is the one who did the spreadsheet (honestly, the amount of time that must have taken her, and its still wrong.)

Tom, this is indeed the same IC Systems, I had the same respone you did, so I tried to call the original creditor on one, a doctors office, and the receptionist basically told me it was out of her hands. (I asked her to contact IC Systems and have them remove it.) So, any more info have would be much appreciated!

Im just scared to death over this mortgage thing, I dont want to pay a fortune in interest due to a score that could be higher. (Hubby;s credit is perfect and I feel awful that my scores may bring us down.)

Thanks again guys, I appreciate it.

Ok, clear me up on this...You filed an online complaint with the BBB and received a letter stating they couldn't help you? And, the PlanetFeedback Letter was addressed to the GMAC person who blew you off? Am I understanding this right?

BBB copied me on a letter they sent to GMAC, which was routed to the credit manager I originally dealt with. (I first contacted GMAC in 1/01, they didnt get back to me till 4/01, and the response was to send me a copy of an old, unsigned letter from them telling me the account was paid in full, dated 1995. However, no validation was sent, and the letter was not proof of all the derog info they put on my report.)

GMAC sent a copy of this letter to BBB, and advised them that they got my letter of 4/1/01 (a big lie, I wrote to them in 1/01) and that they have given me the info I requested, so they had done what was asked. Of course, BBB sent me a copy of this and basically said "they have answered your questions, and given you what you asked for, case closed."

Planet Feed Back sent me back to this person also. I think I made such a stink that they have made some kind of arrangement that anything that comes in with my name on it goes to this person directly. It was addressed to the CEO, sure, but it got sent to the credit department, and right back to this same person.

I know it sounds hard to believe, but PFB and BBB dont always work to our satisfaction. I even wrote to the AG, and got a letter from them last week saying the issue was closed, no infractions detected. I seem to have exhausted all avenues here, except filing suit. No one seems to care that GMAC reports debts incorrectly, and when you complain, they vindictively make the info look worse, when they cant prove a thing.
