    Hello everyone,

I need to fix my credit and after checking my credit report I know I have some fixing to do. In my early twenties I started getting credit cards and I wasn't very responsible with them. I maxed them out and let them go to collections. Of course now these unpaid debts that are now in collections are making my score very low and I want to fix it. I owe about $3000 in collections in about 4 cards but I don't know what to do to fix this. I have moved several times and I don't want to deal with these companies individually because I know some collection agencies have bad tactics when collecting a debt. I would like to know if anyone can recommend a trustworthy agency that can deal with the collection agencies and maybe set up some sort of consolidated payment for all of them paying about $200 per month and fix this within two years or less. I know there are a lot of agencies out there but I don't know which one I could use.

    Thank you for your help

I know it can sound intimidating to work with the CAs yourself, but I really think you should at least try tackling this on your own first. $3,000 is a lot of money, but not a HUGE amount of credit card debt, and I think it would be better for you to control the entire process along the way and take responsibility for negotiating payments. Yes, it will take some time, but it'll be worth it. You'll also learn a lot about how CAs/credit card companies work, and how important it is to manage your credit wisely in the future and never let another account go to collections.

Come here to ask specific questions, and you'll receive specific answers to help you along the way. There are a lot of people here who want to help, and many have been in your exact situation before. They know what works best.
