I have a collection agency trying to collect almost 50 grand for accidental fire for which there is no judgment. The CA is not licensed in my state. They are reporting to all 3 CRAs as if I owe 50 grand with a notation "disputed by consumer"
I have asked them to provide how they coming up with this amount and to validate it that I owe this amount. It has been 3 months, have not heard from them. I need help with this situation. How do I get rid of them? One option I have is to report them to state authorities, but not sure if that will benefit me or whether that will make them delete the collection from my reports....
    any advice?

Did you send the Validation letter by Certified Mail, Return Receipt? If so, and you can prove that they have continued reporting on your CR's (a collection activity) after having received your request for validation, you should send them another letter stating that they have violated the FDCPA 3 times and owe you $3000 and unless they remove their CR entries within 10 days, you will be going to court to collect payment from them, then, do it!
