Need Help w/ Amex Corp

    I applied for the Amex Corp Card for my small business.

    They denied because of an old outstanding balance of $ 400.00. Once I pay the balance, the rep said they could reevaluate my application.

    Has anyone had success negotiating with Amex to pay of an old balance, and getting a card? If so what approach did you use and what level a authority did you have to speak to.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Pay it - then call - you will get the card.

    call 1800 5284800 - hit 0 - then talk to a REP - Tell the REP to transfer you to an ACCT MGR at Centurion Bank.

    They will do it. Tell the ACCT Manager (they give a name and real number) that you want to pay the old balance and need to know exactly the amount.
    "You want to reestablish a business relationship withh AMEX. You also realize this AMEX Business Card will enhance your business. You will be happy to also pay interest."

    What is the exact and amount and where do I send it? Can you help watch this and when it clears, can you help me with approval for my Business Card?

    It'll work - they do not charge any interest!
    The Gold Businesscard is the easist card to obtain.

    Well, I just fedex my payment to Amex.

    Got a good vibe from cs rep about getting corp account approved once payment is posted.

    Keeping my fingers crossed.

    Back in Good w/ Amex

    Boy I was really holding my breath on this one.

    I thought the rep was just telling me anything I wanted to hear to get the old balance paid, but the rep called today and said he had a supervisor override the original denial and I was...

    "Approved for Corp Gold Card and I should have it by Nov. 5th"

    Can I say "Happy Dance"?

    EXCELLENT WEALTH!

    Your experience was identical to mine - pay the old, apply for the new via computer scoring, get denied, then approved by a supvr!

    Thanks for the "EXCELLENT" advice Dogman.

    If I may ask, do you have more than just the one Amex Corp Card? If so, how long did you have to wait before applying for one of their other products?

    I'm considering applying for the Delta SkyMiles. There have been some good posts on it recently.

    Your thoughts please....

    Dogman's advice is perfect :) Pay it and they'll reconsider you.

    After a year, by the way, they purge the system and your old negative won't even be in the system anymore and you can be a "normal" approval for future cards.
