I have a chargeoff with Capital One. The chargeoff was from 1998. The original amount was $405. With the interest they keep adding monthly, it is now reporting as $1700. I disputed as inaccurate with CRAs and they came back with verified. What is my next move? I would make arrangements to pay it off, if they would remove some of the interest and fees, but it would have to be in payments, not a lump sum. I don't want to have a judgement filed against me or have them sue. Any ideas? I have heard other people have been offered a new credit card to reaffirm the debt, but I have not. Please help me!
These are the SOLs for Utah: (found at www.creditinfocenter.com) Oral Agreements 4 Written Contract 6 Promissory Note 6 Open Ended Accounts 4 Credit card accounts are open ended accounts. What month did it charge off? Have you made any payments since its been charged off?
It charged off in April of 1998 and I have made no payments since it was charged off. I have never been contacted by a collection agency either.
