a) Just pay them the $1500 so that it will at least show as paid. b) Try to get them to delete the entry or change the status in return for paying them. c) Try to get them to open a new account for her, transfer the balance to that account, and change the entry (I've heard of Cap1 doing this but not sure about FCNB). Paying off the balance isn't a problem but ideally we'd like to get that "charged-off" entry removed or modified. I've never dealt with FCNB so I'm not sure how flexible they are with these things. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. BTW, her FICO is 638 and she just recently received a Citibank Platinum Select with a limit of $6500, so her credit isn't completely trashed (if that makes a difference). Thanks again.
