I have a paid instalment account with a furniture store that is currently showing 3-60 and 2-90 lates (which is probably accurate). I have disputed throught CRAs and it came back as validated. I sent a letter requesting payment history, original contract, etc. They provided a payment history but that was it. Since they did not provide a copy of the original contract and it has been thirty days can I go to the CRA and ask them to remove? This is the last item between me and home ownership... anyone have any suggestions. Thanks
Was the payment history they sent you a complete accounting of the debt? Does it reveal that you were late 3 times 60 days and 2 times 90 days? Also, I would not consider this full validation. I would dispute as not mine. Anyone could have taken out that account in your name. How did you dispute through the CRA's i.e not mine, never late, etc.. Depending on how you worded the first dispute the not mine door may be closed to you. Also, since you are running short on time I would probably go nutcase on the furniture store. Chances are they won't want to deal with the hassle since they already got their money and they will go ahead and delete. I would dispute simultaneously. Also, surely this is not the only thing standing in your way of getting your mortgage. I've heard of people on this board with far worse problems that were able to qualify for a mortgage.
The furniture store is the OC, yes? They don't have to validate. They do have to mark the tradeline as disputed. CRA's don't validate either, you disputed and it came back verified. Did the payment history reflect the late payments you are trying to have removed? I'd not hang my hat on an OC not providing a copy of the original contract as a part of validation that applies to 3rd party collectors as a reason to expect deletion. Sassy
