So i am very upset with how everything turned out. I filed for chapter 7 Bankruptcy(in CA) and everything was discharged excpet Dell was giving me a hassle. They wanted me to reaffirm my debt. My lawyer did not advice me fully. I signed reaffirmation agreement with dell for 2000 for a laptop(yes i know very stupid) The laptop isnt even worth 2,000 dollars today. I did this about 6 months ago. I NEVER received a payment coupon or bill from dell afterwards. I was supposed to pay 100 a month. I tried calling them and paying them but they said that my account has been closed and they didnt know how to take my payment. Anyway, i just received a letter from resurgent capitol services. Saying that dell sold the account to them. I am upset that this will further miss up my credit rating. Anyway, I called, and they offered to knock my 2000 to 1400 and make 50 dollars a month payments. I asked the lady f i can make 1 lump sum of 700. She said she needs a supervisor approval. I called back an she denies she said anything, as i think she got into trouble b/c u cant settle for anything less regarding a reaffirmation. So my question is, what should i do? start paying, can i settle for less? The laptop is DEf. not worth 2000. Can i return the laptop? would i be responsible for the defference? All the help would be appreciated. Thx
