I'm ready to fight these 2 CA on my report.. They are what's bringing me down Sadly, the collection accts. only total 120 bucks!!!! I am REALLY tempted to call the CA and tell them to "prove this debt exists" since i haven't EVER received contact from them, and both are from over 4 years ago. I know I am supposed to write, but??? Whom do I write to??? the CA or the CRA??? Can I do an investigation with Equifax online or can I call them? What about TU and EXP.?? Ihaven't even seen my reports from either of them.. I guess I just need a plan of action on removing these 2 bad tradelines, any advie I would greatly appreciate!!!
Ok first, order your TU and Exp reports...it is crucial that you know EVERYTHING on all 3 of your reports, not just one. Never call a CA unless you are really comfortable with what to say, and what not to say. Most likely it will get you nowhere, or in trouble...it will frustrate the heck outta you...and it can really detriment your goals of correcting the situation, because you do not have proof (recording calls is sometimes less than legal, and it is much tougher to bring this type of evidence in front of a judge which you may have to do). Use the mail (CRRR -certified return receipt requested) and keep ALL information as a paper trail because many times litigation (or filing suit anyway) is the endzone of the repair process, and you may need this information later. All 3 now can be disputed online. You will need the report number from the top of your reports in order to do this. Again though print hard copies of all the screens that show the disputed info and dates in case you need to go to court later. You send VALIDATION letters to the CA's and DISPUTEs to the CRA's...I like to send the validation letters CRRR and wait till I get the green card back, then I send the disputes (on the same listing) to the CRA's. There are samples of these letters in the creditnet sample section, but I recommend you dispute online...it is much easier, cheaper, and you are certain the disputes will be entered into the system, because you are entering them in "directly" not having someone read your letter and type in the dispute. Hope that helps you get started. -Peace, Dave
