hello all! I have a question. I send Washington Mutual validation letter #1, in reference to some late payments on my mortgage. The account has been paid in full as of April 14, 2003. I wrote to them to see if they can delete the late payments since the account is paid in full. Well this is what they wrote back: Thank you for your inquiry about your Washington Mutual Mutual home loan. According to our records, in the last 12 months, we received payments 30 days or more delinquent for MY, June, December, February, and April. I f you have documentation that any of these payments were reported as delinquent in error please fax it to my attention. Upon receipt, we will be happy to make any necessary corrections. What to do next? Is my question. Please someone help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What exactly did you send to them? A validation letter is a letter that you send to a collection agency saying something to the effect of "Prove this debt you're trying to collect on is really mine". It sounds to me like what you sent was really a goodwill letter. The goodwill letter is something that you send to a creditor that says something like "I know I was late several times, but I was going through a really tough time in my life then. I'm trying to obtain credit and the late payments you have noted on my credit report are causing problems. Could you find it in your heart to remove these late payments from my credit report?" The goodwill letter is more of a hit or miss thing and it sounds like that's what you need if it's not what you already sent. Some companies seem more inclined than others to respond positively to such a letter and whether or not it really works is totally up to the company. Some people have luck sending the goodwill letter several times. Eventually you happen to get a rep that takes pity on you. Failing the goodwill letter you still have the standard options available... dispute the debt with the CRA's as not mine of never late and hope that the OC never verifies it. HTH, Brett
Brett I send letters of goodwill to all my OC and the CA'sthat I owed and they all wrote back that they could not remove the negative remarks from my credit report so I send letters of validation to the OC and the CA's. Brett I tried disputing that the account was not mine and according to the CRA they confirmed that the accounts were mine. The letter's that I send was one from PsychDoc's example letter . I think it was the Estoppel letter.
brett i'm sorry I sendt the OC's the nutcase letters because of he fact that all the accounts are paid in full.
