My question is, I am dealing w/ NCO Financial for defaulted student loans. They are offering Rehab for x dollars a month but they will start garnishment if I don't arrange for a payment over the phone. If I give them my checking account # to make arrangement can they garnish it w/o a court order? I know they can garnish paycheck w/o a court order but I want to be sure about this b/f I start. Thanks in advance.
I would be concerned with giving the likes of NCO my checking account information. If you absolutely must do this, I would open a new account at a different bank, and keep only enough in there to cover one payment at a time. I know from reading here that student loans are big bears, so hang tight, and gather more information. With it being a holiday weekend, it may be the first of next week before you get some good answers.
Thanks for the advice. I had already taken that. I opened a account w/ USAA. So it's nowhere near me. I am changing my direct deposit tomorrow too. Then I will do exactly as you said it. Just keep enough to cover the checks to them. Thanks for the assistance.
