    Hello all,
I have a question for people who have done buisness with discover card or who have been in the same typ situation.. When i applyed for Discover 5 months ago the rates were 16.99% fixed,Now the rates are dowm to 13.99% fixed..A month after i got my card rates were lowered to 14.99% and wife got it..Now they are at 13.99% and friend got that with worse credit than us..I have called this bank a couple times to get lower apr but they say no and give me 10% off my next purchase.,However on my last call the Rep. said that he can't lower rate however upgrade me to platinum and further said the rate should come down a little.Anyways got the platinum cards and rate is the same.To me 16.99% is kind of high with that 2 day average cycle or whatever it is.Now this is my plain and please any comments will be appreciated..

1.) I plan to transfer the $5,500 to my account with NextCard at 15.99% and NO BT fee's..I will leave discover card open and hope they offer me enother BT special at the 1.9% for 6 months..Does this sound possible? Thanx

THEY WON'T GIVE YOU A CREDIT LIMIT INCREASE WITH-OUT A CREDIT REPORT BEING PULLED...

I HAVE GOT ONLY $1,500.00 AFTER 5 YEARS OF PERFECT PAYMENT HISTORY.

THE CARD IS IN THE SOCK DRAWER...HOLDING OUT FOR $5,500 MORE!

Her score is 632 mine is 672 on experian..They did not give me the option to do a BT like her and i asked they said no..Whats up with that??

I CHARGE $900/WEEK...THEY WILL NOT GET THE DRIFT!!!

I PAY IN FULL EVERY MONTH, SO THEY MUST THINK I DON'T MATTER...BUT THEY GET THEIR "CUT" OF SALES...SO THEY STILL MAKE MONEY ON ME!!!

    Bill B,

I have a classic Discover card. The interest rate was 14.99%, which is high, but I never carried a balance on it. Last week, I threatened to close the account, and I really was going to close it...I was pretty ticked at Discover's "no increase in credit line unless we pull your report and cost you 8 points on your FICO score" policy. They offered me a balance transfer of 9.99%. I told them I don't carry any balances on my cards (Amex is an exception). Retention then offered me 9.99% on my new purchases for five months. I agreed to that although, I'm not sure why, since I don't carry a balance on the card.
My advice is to threaten to close the account, only do this if you really mean it and don't mind losing the account (a possibility). The prime interest rate is 6% there should be no reason anyone should have a card over 12-13% (unless you're rebuilding your credit portfolio). There are better cards out there. Have you tried Amex's Optima or Blue?

PS You may also try contacting them and telling them that you have so and so card with ?% and would they be willing to meet that. This sometimes works.

I WILL NOT CLOSE (OR THREATEN TO CLOSE) DISCOVERCARD...IT WILL HELP (SO THEY SAY) WITH MY DEBT TO CREDIT LIMIT RATIO...

THEY ARE LOSING $900/WEEK...SOMEBODY SHOULD NOTICE???

SHOULDN'T THEY GET AN ALARM..."GEORGE" HAS HAD 2 MONTHS OF NO PURCHASES AT ALL!!!!

I was the maddest at them when they "ATE" the charges on the AUGUST 2001 bill...IT WAS $0.02...I told them by E-MAIL, that was my $0.02 worth...THEY STILL REFUSE TO SEND ME MY AUGUST BILL THAT I OWE $0.02...BECAUSE THEY ATE IT!!!

    I'M STILL HOLDING OUT!!!

MY PLANTFEEDBACK DIDN'T DO ANYTHING EITHER...

George, I'm in the same boat as you concerning Discover. I have written their specialists and executive offices and I get the same response as you each time (if I actually get a response). Maybe we're banging our head against the wall for no reason. My gut tells me to get rid of them, but I keep the card in my freezer for emergencies - since it has a $0 balance on it. I think we're staying with a company that doesn't deserve us.

ya i think after the 1.9% i will transfer the $$ to nextcard..It is only 1% diffrence tho..But discover does that 2 day average cycle stuff which i think costs a bit more from what i understand

I have a discover with a $10,000 line, $5000 for cash advances. I use their balance transfer offers at 9.9%, carry the balance till the rate goes higher and pay it off. They actually let me use the full amount for BTs. I have had no problems, they have not given a rate increase in a while, but they have given me 2.9% for a couple of months a few times.
