okay i have a installment account listed on my TU report in the amount of $6169, that was opened in 1996 and last reported on 01/01/2003. it was for a car that i had purchased years ago and since then i have paid off. my question is should i contact TU and ask them to remove this listing since it is past the magic 7-year anniversary? i cannot believe this is showing that i still owe $6169 when i have the title to the car.
are there any steps i should take or should i just simple call TU? (does anyone have their number by the way)?

Contact the creditor, not the CRA.

The CRA may be picking this up from the court house records rather than the creditor.

you should simply dispute it to TU. go to the website and dispute. you dont even need a report number. i think it should be pretty easier and quick for them to see the problem and fix it. ive also had problems with tu updating some balances for upto 7 months. a dispute usually puts them in their place.

I'm with JT on this one.

I'd start by disputig with TU. And then if that doesn't work I'd attack the OC.
