Wow, ChrisB, you and I think alike. I was offered something outrageous like $5k down and 13% rate at Chrysler. So I went and bought a Chevy Impala with excellent terms. The first thing I did after picking up my car was go straight to the Dodge Dealer. Talk about a kodak(sp) moment! ALL their sales rep's were just sitting there without anyone to sell to. I will never forget that day. It was hilarious!

Well all of a sudden after they got a "actual human being" to look at my report, they called and said they were able to give me the finance rate i want. Im wondering if they thought i was gonna fold, perhaps now i should just go buy it from another dealer, or stick with my old new car..

I really think the auto industry realized that in the information age they couldn't jack the prices on the cars anymore and get away with it. They also couldn't jab you with outrageous interest rates for no reason because the competitor was on TV with a better one. So now they have the majority of the general public beaten with the credit stick.

Because the CRAs list reasons why your credit isn't perfect, the industry has realized... "Hey, we can take these reasons and make a hefty profit off of ANY buyer... because even at 800, there are still reasons listed."

And you know what? Most of society is uninformed, think they have no contol and so they settle.

I think you did the right thing by getting your cash back. Had you settled they would have made a killing, but if you walk they make nothing. Better to give you the better rate so at least they make something.

Screw them, Im going to the Corvette dealership and leasing one of those for the same price, then i will drive it up the Ford salesmans ass, who gave me the run around, Even I gotta admit 360 per month, for 48 months, at 15k miles per year, is a pretty good deal for a 2003 Vette. If by some act of god , The Vette does not pan out, i will casually wander back to the ford dealership. It was a scam to make an extra 35 bucks a month all along, we all knew that, esp when i called their bluff , when they tried to play on my credit ignorance. One thing i have to admit is any regular poster/ reader of this board will never be swashbuckled by a shady creditor again, thats for sure.!!

This is exactly why the consumer has been saddled with the Fico and credit reporting scam!
