do you know by any chance I read it somewhere that Ca business must give the true legal business name or its a violation have you heard of this maybe in federal law ?
Yep, it's in the FDCPA: http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpa/fdcpact.htm#807 § 807. False or misleading representations [15 USC 1692e] A debt collector may not use any false, deceptive, or misleading representation or means in connection with the collection of any debt. Without limiting the general application of the foregoing, the following conduct is a violation of this section: (14) The use of any business, company, or organization name other than the true name of the debt collector's business, company, or organization. sassy, whoops I already mention that section in my complaint, I know its section 1692 e I mentioned that above and I sue under 1692 k but is there another code under federal law besides fdcpa ? sorry im a little brain dead today lol
Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, (FDCPA) 15 U.S.C. §1601 et seq Fair Credit Reporting Act, (FCRA), 15 U.S.C. §1681 et seq I hope that's what you are referring to, otherwise I'll have to fess to being brain-dead as well ;-) Sassy
NOW, I get what you are asking The above that I posted is the US Code citation for both the FCRA and FDCPA, you're wanting the same for the sections you cited. The section codes that we use are explained: As a public service, the staff of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has prepared the following complete text of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Although staff generally followed the format of the U.S. Code as published by the Government Printing Office, the format of this text does differ in minor ways from the Code (and from West's U.S. Code Annotated). For example, this version uses FCRA section numbers (§§ 601-625) in the headings. (The relevant U.S. Code citation is included with each section heading and each reference to the FCRA in the text.) § 616. Civil liability for willful noncompliance [15 U.S.C. § 1681n] § 617. Civil liability for negligent noncompliance [15 U.S.C. § 1681o] § 623. Responsibilities of furnishers of information to consumer reporting agencies [15 U.S.C. § 1681s-2] Don't know what text version of the FCRA you read, but this one lists both, the section and US Code citation: http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fcra.htm#601 Sassy
