Although any loan servicer probably has some complaints, there appears to be a clear statistical distinction between legitimate lenders/loan servicers, and those that engage in games with late posting and piling on fees. Punch in, say, BofA, into ripoffreport or consumeraffairs.com, and you will find some complaints, of various sorts, consistent with the size of their business. Punch in Fairbanks, Ocwen, or other similar outfits, and a large number of complaints show, indicating consistent patterns of behavior. Statistically, large numbers don't lie.
Remember - the consumer doesn't get to pick the mortgage servicer. There is little a consumer can do to influence the choice of servicer. But for the grace of God, any of us could end up with a fraud-bent servicer.
The site where the original petition site was posted, has closed prior to me being able to download the signatures (and without any notice)....a new petition has been started and can be found at http://www.consumercity.org Thanks for taking the time to care....especially all of you who contacted me and signed the original petition. I will be meeting with my Senator later this month as he is very interested in consumer protection. deniserichardson1@netzero.com
