Does anyone have any experience with asking a cc company to accept a portion of the toal balance owed? Say pay a 1/3 of the balance and they write off the rest. TIA
Re: Negoiating a reduced balan I accepted a settlement of about 2/3 of the balance on a Sears account, they normally accept it, but remember that if you accept a settlement like that, to have them put in writing that they agree to delete the account or update it to an I1 status with no reference to "paid for less than full balance". I did not know this when I accepted the settlement and now I'm stuck with a "paid for less than full balance" on my CR for 3 more years (unless junum can get it deleted). The most important thing is to get EVERYTHING IN WRITING!!! Erica
