Hi all - I know this is not a credit card item, but, I am warning everybody on the internet that you will get screwed if you use or signup for NETZERO and need any kind of support! I installed Netzero - free version - then saw no need for it - so uninstalled it.....THEN, even as we speak, a stupid NAG SCREEN comes up every time I open Explorer Express mail. SO, I reinstalled NETzero again. ERROR still there! I looked through 100 stupid menus, tried my stuff I know from the industry, then called support at $1.95 per minute. The idiot Tech support put me on hold for 2 minutes (I timed it) for a $4 charge, then he bullshit me thru another $16! The jerk - who could not speak Californian, told me 1/2 thru the call that he was reminding me I was being billed. He then diagnosed my Explorer mail was incorrect and to call Microsoft! I THOUGHT ABOUT NAILING THE BASTARD with some escalations to the bosses at Netzero - but thought - screw them. I'll put out a message on email to the world. They should not have charged me the $20! I will contest with PacBell, then pay it on record as disputed. I may still send Netzero CEO this email! I may send a copy to consumeraffairs.com! Hey, I build internet - don't screw me NZ by saying Microsoft is hosed. NETZERO - wanta partner with Cross Country Bank? Or is that your sponsor? Board computer gurus - I have DSL, always on of course, and everytime I open explorer mail, I get a DIALUP signon message for Netzero - before I can see my mail! I have been to internet connections - there is no dialup connection listed. I KNOW is I paid $9.95 month, I would get that same screen where I could click "Remember password." The FREE edition ISN"T! NETZERO - BAD PRESS - DIG IT? later - dogman
Try this -- Go to the Internet Options control panel. Click on the connections tab I expect you'll see 3 radio buttons - Never dial a connection, Dial whenever a network connection is not present, and Always dial my default connection. If NETZERO does the same thing a lot of the other providers do the make the service they install the default and select always dial my default connection. If the problem only comes up with mail and you use either Outlook or Outlook Express, you should find a connections tab in the advanced settings for your email account - same set of choices.
MS - you are my tech hero! I went to Tools, Accounts, and saw the remaining NETZERO connection! I deleted it and no more nag screen! MANY THANKS - I can build SONET rings with no problem! You had great service TOO! aarrff - dogman
