I am new to credit repair and this board. I have been reading many of the posts for the last month or so, but this is my first time posting. I just purchased a new car with a pretty decent 6% rate and ended up checking all three of my credit reports. My score is low (632) due to past superlate payments/collections with two credit cards. Last year I paid the two credit cards (Discover and Citibank) completely off through collection agencies. The problem now is that on my credit report Citibank is STILL showing a $556 balance. Also for the past FOUR MONTHS 120 days late flags were added to that account! I am really upset about the fact that this Citibank account was settled in August 2004 and my credit report says otherwise! I submitted online disputes about this account to the Credit Report Agencies. I'm not sure what to do next or who to contact. I can't remember the name of the collection agency I paid, but I just requested copies of the cashed checks I used to pay them from my bank. There is also another error only on one credit report. A student loan that I had is shown as 30 and 60 days late 2 times each. The times that these so called latenesses occurred were during a deferment of the loan. I submitted an online dispute about that one too. I'm wondering if I need to just wait and see if the online disputes work or whether or not I should start writing letters through the mail. I'm not sure who I should write to, Citibank? the collection agency? or the Credit Report Agency? I just want my score to be an accurate reflection of my current situation. Past problems, current outlook good. I also want to be able to get another credit card at some point in my life! Thanks for any suggestions!
