Today I recieved an "invitation only" with GUARANTEED APPROVAL for a Cap 1 Platinum Card. The offer is $59 annual fee, 0% apr through July 2003 and initial credit line from $500 - $7500. Did anyone else recieve the same offer, if so... what was the initial credit line?
I've gotten about a million offers from Cap 1 in the past few months which sort of cracks me up because I have a charge-off with them from 2000! This week I got the same one you did, and I gave in. I only have one one TL open so I thought another card might help to build my credit and in time improve my score. I applied Wednesday and called today and I was approved! The only sucky thing is that it's only for $500. I have a $4000 limit on my other card which I built up from $500 since 10/99, so I was hoping for a little better CL from Cap1, but I guess I should be happy that I got one at all. I just started trying to repair my credit, it's not horrible, but it's not great either.
The offer I have is for up to $7500 CL. I have a feeling that most get $500 CL. Did they pull a hard inquiry on you when you signed up? If so, which bureau did they check?
Mine was for $7500 too. Do you think maybe they just forgot the 7 in front of the 500 when they told me my limit? LOL! I haven't checked on the inquiry, but I'll let you know as soon as I do!
They always put "up to this amount" to make it appealing and then when you apply you get a small limit. It's just their tactic to reel you in.
