In one month or so I will have a clean equifax report, last two negatives expire 07/03 and they usually fall off 30 to 45 days early based on my past experience, so I'm almost there! Anyway, I would like to BT my cc balances onto one card (need 5K or greater) with a low rate. Of course, since I will have a clean EQ report, I will need to use a cc that checks EQ only. As far as I can see it I have two options: 1) apply for a new card that checks EQ (any suggestions?) or 2) get a cl increase on my Citi card (current 1K limit; open for about 6 months). Which one would be preferable (or easier)? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

What are your other credit limits like? I'm nervous that I will not be able to get 5K b/c my highest is 2K (and it is Crap1 so nobody that checks my report will know the limit).

I have 18 prime cards open from 1400 to 22000 and cap 1 does suck if you want to show limit do cash advance for 1950 then pay it off right away will that work??????????????????????????????

Bankone has approved me twice when no one else would. I had limited to no previous revolving history, only a Cap1 with a 500 high balance 1 year old AU to be exact. The first BankOne card I got was the AOL Visa 2500 limit, 3 weeks later applied for the Marriot's Rewards and was approved with a a 5k limit. I think that is pretty good considering. If you have good previous revolving history you should have no problems at all!!!!!

Don't you get slapped with interest from day one with a cash advance?

Yes you do get slapped with interest, very high interest, and in order to have any effect on how the credit limit is reported you would have to wait up to a month b/f paying it off.... not worth it at this point... sigh...

What about charging it up then paying it off after it reports. Just let it cycle so it'll report. Although... what then happens to interest on that card and others?

That's the $64,000 question...will anyone else catch wind and punish you for the excessive utilization (or even worse, consider you "over the limit" on that card and slap you silly)?

Makes me wonder if you couldn't call their retention and ask them if you max out their card for one month if you'd be safe.

2nd.....on another thread we are discussing maxing out cards during 0%. Several people seem to do it without any adverse effects from other cards, although their score may tumble during it.
