    Hi
I wanted to know what the easiest gas cards and departments store cards to get are. Our scores are both is the mid 500's but climbing :)
Hubby has student loans and a cross county card as his "good" credit lines.I have a cross country card in my name we've had them since dec2001. Hubby works, I stay home..We are in S. Caliornia.Hubby works but his scores are lower...would it be easier though for him to apply and have me as a authorized user ? or the other way around ? if you are an autherize user to the report o both CRA
I am hoping to start building good credit while paying down old I have 1 to 1 1/2yrs till we buy a house.
    Any advice would be lovely..
    TIA
    Jamie

    Jamie,

I'm going to be blunt, I think you're going to have alot of trouble getting gas and department store cards with such low scores. Most department stores will consider scores in the low 600s (Target, RadioShack, and Macy's are all easy to get). What major derogs do you have? A BK, collections, foreclosures? How many months (years) have you been current on your payments? Have you thought about getting another secured card - Capital One and Orchard are goods ones to consider. How long have you had Cross Country Bank? How about inquiries and balances?

Sorry for all the questions, but it gives us a better idea of where you're at and where you want to go.

    Have a wonderful day. :)

    Dani
