I was one of those people that slipped through the cracks for citibank. I just recently received my 2k limit aa card. My question is, I have a perfect credit history in the last two years but I have an open charge off of about $4k, and judgement of about 3k, both dated in 95 and 97. I signed up with junum and hopefully they will take care of the other minor collections. But my questions is this, will it be easier for me to get other prime offers of even retail cards now that I have a citibank acct?

I really think you may have a harder time getting any prime cards with an open chargeoff and a judgement, Citibank is giving credit to less than perfect right now, but I don't think you will have that kind of luck with other prime lenders. I suggest you get these things taken care off first before you decide to try and get new prime cards. Just my thoughts

It has not been easier for me. I have paid collections(formerly defaulted student loans) on my credit report. But, I am turned down by every prime lender in the book. That is except Citibank and Chase. Using that logic, I dont recommend applying to anyone except Citi and Chase.

    THANK YOU MUCH..

THANKS ALOT FOR ANSWERING MY QUESTION. DO YOU THINK IF I KEEP MY ACCOUNT IN GOOD STANDING I WOULD BE ABLE TO QUALIFY FOR A RETAIL CARD. THE REASON I ASK THIS IS THAT I REALLY WANT THE LERNER'S CARD (NY&CO) AND/OR THE EXPRESS CARD.

I dont know. I have had no luck at getting any retail cards. I was even turned down by target. Anyone who pulls my equifax turns me down. I dont know what to tell you. What can a lerner card buy you that your citibank card can't? hum?

    RE: THANK YOU MUCH..

Congratulations, and I don't mean to rain on your parade.Your credit seems better than Roni's and the others that have got new Citi cards -from what I've gathered reading these posts and I thought your limit would be much higher . I too want to apply for Citi using the guidlines Roni discussed in earlier posts and want to optimize that by seeing how others are doing such as yourself. Any ideas?

credit limit is based more on income and debt, than credit score.

Do you know what bank issues the Lerner's card?

Monogram Credit Card Bank is a biggie out there. I think they have FAIRLY relaxed standards, but I don't know for sure. Give it a try. Retail cards are supposed to be easy to obtain...
