    Hi,
I've been reading the posts on this board for a few weeks and have just joined. I sent for my credit reports last week, so I don't have them yet.

I have to work on both my report and dh's. Is it best to sign up with places like Privista, to check our reports and do disputes online?

My dh and I have a discharged BK on 12/02. Our goal is to purchase a home in the near future. I have 1 subprime card (Household bank) since 12/02 that is current ($300 CL) I use it and pay $150-$200/month on it. My DH has not been able to get approved for any accounts since the BK. I need to get his reports too, but am so overwhelmed with the entire process, I thought I'd start on mine and then work on his.

I recently tried to get car financing thru a site I found online that promised that only 1 inquiry would be placed on my credit report. However, the information was given to a finance person at a Toyota car dealership, and he also told me not to shop around for cars until he got me financed because of many inquiries.

Long story short, no car, but at least 10 letters from banks turning me down for car credit. They were from large banks in the area..Wells Fargo, BofA, etc, and I knew I couldn't get approved from them before I even started. I did not give this guy permission to shop me at prime banks, and was under the impression I would only have 1 inquiry! Is there anything I can do to get these inquiries off of my reports?

    Thanks.
Will post reports as soon as I get them for advice on a plan of action.

    Welcome.

May I highly suggest using the free 30 day trial on Experian and Equifax and/or the 3 months for $1 on Privacy Guard? You can also pull TU free once a week or so, and maybe more since DH has been denied credit. SAVE THOSE LETTERS. From here on out save EVERYTHING that might have anything to do with credit or credit accounts.

You can dispute online using the 3 CRAs - each site has a form to dispute, or you can fax in your disputes.

HTH - update when you get your reports please and if you start disputing, remember to dispute any outdated or incorrect names and addresses FIRST.

    Experian Credit Rport Results

Under Personal Information, there are 12 different variations of my name alone! (I use a hyphenated maried name) and also names that are not mine with different middle initials.
Should I narrow it down to 1 name?

    There's also 12 different addresses.
Do I delete all of these and just use my current address?

There are also 3 other SSn's (not mine), a wrong date of birth and 2 different phone numbers. 1 is my correct number.

What advice can you give for these?

(I'll post the actual report shortly)

    Experian Report Results (continued)

    Public Records:

    BK Chapter 7 7/002 filed 11\2002 resolved

Phila Co Reg 12/1994 $9100 federal tax lien
(I didn't know anything about this)

    State Tax Lien 4/98 $9100

    State Tax Lien 6/2001 $1827

(The 2 State tax liens are my own fault for not filing taxes. I am in the process of filing all old tax reports now, so hopefully they will come off since I do not owe this amount of money. In CA, since I have a professional license, the state made up an amount of taxes they think I owe since I did not file)
