NEW hits on report after discharge?

    My wife & I filed a chapter 13 Sept 16, 1997.

    It was discharged in 2001.

We just ran all three credit reports and notice that creditors (and the accounts) which were INCLUDED in the bankruptcy, continue (or continued) "reporting" to the credit bureau(s) on some of the accounts.

Some otheres posted "90+ lates" (one did it 19 times) AFTER the bankruptcy filing was made on Sept 16, 1997.

Is that something that they are allowed to do?

Also, some continue to do some kind of "reporting" to this day.... Under the "Date Reported" column on the Equifax report, one has 05/03 as the latest date they "did" something.

Again, is THAT something that they can do (they're doing it... but should they be doing it?).

I can add any other information if needed for answers.

    Thank you.

Just a courtesy bump. From what I have read about BK, no they can't do that. After the BK was discharged, there was no debt to be late on!

Before you jump the gun here, welcome to the board, and read up on how others have repaired their credit after BK. The number one rule is never admit to the CRAs you filed BK.

    Good luck!

    jlynn,

    Thanks for a reply.

I've now been reading (& re-reading) the faqs on this board.

About not telling the CRAs that we've had a BK.. it shows up on the credit reports.

I'm confused, are they not smart enough to see that in their own report?

    thanks.

2*Sure they are but if you send them your BK papers you just validated it for them.Once you've proved it to them how are you ever going to get it off your report.????????.

I had a public record of a 36K tax lien showing unpaid. I had paid it 10 yrs before. Just because its there, doesn't mean its true. The worst thing you can do is confirm its truth!
