New Homeowner

    Thanks to CN we have signed closing documents on our new house Monday, a week ago.

    We financed with NFCU, got %5.5 fixed on a VA loan. Total out of our pocket closing costs: about $1500. We got $700 back.

    This was the simplest mortgage ever. We sent them only one set of paperwork with docs attached and the next time we were signing stuff was at the closing. No bothering, no 3 pages long credit explanation etc. I'm surprised just how easy it all was.

    Now I am waiting for the mortgage to hit CRs and see how much damage it's gonna do. Yet, when our car loan hit, DH's scores jumped up....

    Navy Federal has always done me right. If you are in the military, they are the best. They tend to have less restrictive underwiting guidelines too.
