My brother got his New Sony Card from the mail and they turned his Sony Card into Platinum Visa. It is blue translucent card and it is issued by Bank One. It replace the existing Sony Citi Card on or after February 23 2004. I haven't received my card yet and I think I will receive mine next week. The customer service toll free number remains the same. The number is starting with 4266.

I though that the sony card was issued by Citibank

    Geo,

Bank One took over issuing Sony Card since June 2003. Starting February 23, 2004, Sony card will be issued by Bank One.

Ron - do you think Bank One will go back to its old games - closing cards cuz of "too many accounts?"

I have heard about the Bank One/ 1st USA "Bad Practices". Probably I have been lucky because they have denied me during all my life, probably 7 or 8 times.

    Mark,

I don't know. Bank One closed all my accounts and they shrunk my brother's credit lines. I'm being very careful and they loved to do that kind of things. Bank One is not my favorite bank and I don't have any choice. Sony picked Bank One will be the issuer of the card. I'm going to use it that much like I used to be.

I got mine too. Now that I have three cards with BankOne (they seems to be gobbling up all my card issuers), should I be worried about my accounts? Does anyone know what constitutes "too many accounts"?

    Thanks

I called Bank One today, and they said after Feb 23 I can change my sony card to any other affinity card, such as Starbucks.

Is this replacing the Sony card that is only used for Sony products? I have one of those, but it is certainly not a credit card. Just curious what Sony card you are talking about?

As far as a i know, you can also recieve financing from sonystyle.com for sony products (Sony Financial Services Card). This was the Citibank Sony card. BankOne is in the process of purchasing the portfolio. This will not effect the other type of financing you can recieve from sonystyle.com

Bank One BLOWS! I applied on Dec 8th for a card, they sent a letter asking for more info on 26th, copied everything and got it back oin the mail the same day, didn't get a response until they pulled 2 hards on EX, and then still denied me, but did not tell me until Feb, 5th.

ero, sorry to read about that. What were the reason(s) for the decline?

    Best regards,
    Mirage

too many new INQs and too many INQs (which are both true) but the thing is when they sent me the letter they said nothing about reconsideration adn pulling a second hard, but apparently i was already declined and they asked for that info for a reconsideration. So now they pulled 2 hards, got a copy of my SS card, and copy of my phone bill to decline me. On another note, about a week after that decline, I figured I would go with the citibank AAdvantage card, I already have the bronze no fee version but decided it was worth it to pay 50$ a year to get 1 pt per dollar, so applied almost knowing I would be declined, I called citi on thrusday approved for 9,000, add that to the 4,000 I have on my bronze card and it makes a pretty nice Cl, so I say screw em! I know who wants my business :)

Sony Financial Services financing Plan is handled by Household Retail Services and it is different from Sony Citi Mastercard (will be Bank One Sony Platinum Visa by Feb 23, 2004). It is two different products and one is financing plan like Best Buy card and the other is co-branded Visa/MC Card.

Ero: regarding citi remember that you can call and convert the AA card for a no fee card like plat Select.

I finally got my New Sony Platinum Visa from the mail today and I'm not so excited about it. It is because Bank One closed all my account with them six months ago.
