BANK ONE WILL ISSUE NEW SONY REWARDS CARD Sony Corp. of America has selected Bank One Corp. to issue the new Sony rewards card that the electronics giant is promoting on its Web site, Michael Auriemma, president of Auriemma Consulting Group Inc., tells CardLine today. "Sony sent out an RFP [request for proposals], and it selected Bank One about a month ago," Auriemma says. Chicago-based Bank One is replacing Citigroup Inc.â??s Citibank. Citibank said in a recent letter to cardholders that it will drop the Sony card June 16 and replace it with the Citi Diamond Preferred card (CardLine, 6/3). On its Web site, Sony says it will introduce a "better-than-ever" Sony rewards card, but it did not say when the card would be available or who would issue it. A Bank One spokesperson repeated several times that he would not comment on "rumor and speculation" concerning the Sony card. Sony officials could not be reached for comment.
