After banking with a credit union for many years, I decided to switch banks. I went to Firststar Bank here in Springboro, OH. To my knowledge they didn't do a credit check on me. I have a checking account with no minimum balance requirement, and no monthly service charges. I received a Visa Check Card with no checks on my credit report either. Of course, I did transfer several thousand dollars. I don't know if that variable played into the equation or not. Also, I made a big blupper in my records and had several NSF fees hit my account. I went into the branch and talked to the manager and she removed half of the NSF fees. Also, the bank still honored my checks and just hit me up for the fee. My credit union never did that. I was lucky!! I didn't even know at the time that banks did credit checks to see if they wanted you as a customer. Scary!! Anyway, I am very happy at US Bank. (formerly Firststar Bank in my area). Good luck in your search. Must be frustrating! Sirrowan
I'd really like to know how this situation turned out. Any other banks turn her down, or did she get accepted at one?
I'm really not sure. I'm out of town and haven't talked to her. I don't think she's applied again yet. I know how it is. Once you've been shot down a few times, sometimes it's hard to go stare another bank rep in the face, waiting for the litttle denial slip. It's so easy to screw it all up, and so hard to fix it. I'm fixing stuff I did in a matter of a year, and I think it may be 2 or 3 before I'm all done.
Re: USAA I have no military association whatsoever. I have only good things to say about USAA so far. Can't wait to save up enough $$ for that secured loan! Myst
